PET OF THE WEEK

Image    ANGEL

This is Angel. She is the sweetest most loving Siberian that has ever been with us here at the rescue. She came in and swept everyone off there feet with her gentle ways and loving personality. Who would have thought that a sweet girl like her had been neglected and ignored all her life, but yet she is still willing to give you all the love you want. But like most stories hers unfortunately does not have a happy ending. She had tumors upon arrival, we had them removed to only find out they were malignant and aggressive. Her life will be cut short. She is now in need for someone to spend the rest of her life with, someone that will be by her side telling her it will be ok, someone that will let her know that she is loved and that she did matter.

Medical Information: She is up to date on her shots, has been spayed and is being maintained on heartworm and flea prevention.

  WHO WE ARE

Image Here at the Safe Haven we are Florida non-profit corporation dedicated to finding the best possible home for each Siberian and Shepherd we have in our care. We are all non-paid volunteers whom are committed to good health and quality of life for each and every dog that we rescue.

Our Rescue's mission does not end with just placing dogs in new homes. We work hard to educate the public on how to meet the needs of Siberians and German Shepherds and how to avoid abusive and neglectful situations with these pets.

When we receive a Siberian or Shepherd, he/she will receive all medical care that is needed. Prior to adoption, they are spay/neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, fecal tested and have had all their veterinary needs met. If necessary, prior to adoption, we provide treatment for heartworms, dental work, parvo, etc.

ImageDuring the time we have them with us, we evaluate the dog's temperament, socialization and health. We want the best possible match for the dog and the adopting human.

We are extremely picky in choosing homes for our dogs.  Although we don’t always have a history on the dog’s past or know how it got to the shelter, we do have a sense of its character and needs. If you see a pet  that you'd like to adopt, please fill out an adoption application. We get quite a few applications, so please be patient.

If you are approved to adopt one of our Siberians or Shepherds our commitment to them does not stop there. We will always be here to answers questions and give advise. We have had experiance with these two breeds for over 20 years so there is probably nothing we have not seen or had to deal with on our own.

ImageDID YOU KNOW

10-12 million pets are euthanized annually in the United States. Using the lower figure of 10 million, that's 192,308 per week or 27,473 pets euthanized every 24 hours, 365 days a year.
